Well, I for one can say you're one helluva inspiration and motivation. I can deeply empathize regarding Ricky (I lost my best friend, a Siamese named Tim, after my grandma died.) It's hard, but these sorts of things sadly happen.

As for next year, I think you're in the right place for some well deserved breaks and some even more well deserved adulation. Yeah, there will be times when things will be hard, or frustrating, or annoying, but I think the positives will definitely out-weigh the negatives. 

Plus, if you ever feel like venting, feel free to drop by my cube.</description>
