David, Akismet is software for blocking spam in your blog comments.

C.J., yeah...my experience is similar. From no comment spam let through to several a day and it's been pretty persistent over the last week or so.

I've been noticing similar behavior... I have upwards of three hundred spam coming into the comment queue DAILY! This is a stark change from months ago when I had a sum-total of NONE.

I thought, at first, that it was possibly that I had managed to stay under the radar of the spam trolls, but a quick check of the spam queue showed that wasn't the case... I also took a few minutes to scope-out whether there was a substantive change in the content of the spam, but that doesn't seem to be the case either.

If you make any earth-shattering discoveries as to the cause, let us know with a follow-up blog entry...

Is Akismet the spam filter for Yahoo! Mail or an independant filter?

My Gmail has been attacked by spam from other Gmail addresses lately, although they do seem to have stopped the last few days.
