You? A Mac? Say it ain't so! You need these pieces of software:

TextMate, NetNewsWire, MenuCalendarClock, and SuperDuper.

Those are my favorite pieces of mac software that didn't come on my mac (other than the obvious: FireFox, IDEA, etc...). I'm probably forgetting something though.

If you don't mind plugging in an external mouse (a cheap $24 Logitech 3 button blue optical, for instance), the right click works like hitting the option button (which, in many cases, is damn near the same as the right-click button).

As far as software, I'd go out and get Firefox right away. Don't mess with Safari, or the "made for mac" Camino or whatever it's called.Just straight firefox. It runs yahoo mail (and even live mail, now) beta.:)

Congrats !

Some tools that are useful..

menumeters - stats on the machine
fink - unix tools
finkcommander - gui for fink
iterm - terminal mac style

For YME - try out software from http://www.parallels.com/

I also hear that vmware will soon come up with a way to run windows on the macbook..so there will be plenty of ways to get the best of both worlds.
