Lisa and I managed to sneak in a second show during our trip to New York. We saw Chicago on Friday night at the Ambassador Theatre.
Chicago is an interesting story of two women, in prison for murder, and the hot-shot lawyer who’s trying to keep them from being convicted. There’s plenty of singing and dancing. Oh, and did I mention Huey Lewis was playing the lawyer? Yes…THAT Huey Lewis.
Chicago was interesting. I definitely liked Wicked better, but I did enjoy Chicago. There was a lot more dancing and a far less intricate set than Wicked had. One neat thing is that the orchestra is actually part of the set/play. They play right on the stage and serve as props during several of the numbers (in Wicked, the orchestra is situated under the stage).
Ryan, I had no idea you were such a musical theater buff.
I wasn’t. This trip was my first real experience going to plays. I wouldn’t say I’m a buff…but I did enjoy myself and I’m looking forward to seeing more plays.
