All hands to battlestations, Kahuna in the water

I’m glad to see I had it right as Kahuna (because “Kanukah” sounded dumb). Turns out the Kahuna guys have a blog and some people are already beta testing the new interface. One of the comments mentions Kahuna reminding them of Outlook Web Access. I remember using that a couple of years ago at another company. It was okay, functional but looked like crap (much like Outlook back then).

I am curious to see what the new Hotmail will look like and how it compares to our upcoming Oddpost-powered, Y! Mail update. The current Hotmail leaves a lot to be desired. When I switched my mail account from Excite to Hotmail (sometime in late 2001), they were by far the nicest webmail around. Now it’s this dreadful application that looks like it was designed entirely by the MSN marketing department (do you think you could maybe fit ANOTHER ad on the page somewhere?). Speaking of ads, I wonder how Kahuna is going to handle them. Yet another thing that would be interesting to compare.

In any case, I’m really looking forward to seeing what Kahuna has in store. Hopefully they bring their “A” game and we can start a huge innovation war between Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail, GMail and (maybe) AIM Mail (I shouldn’t include them in this list because their new webmail sucks, but it appears they offer free IMAP).

Check out this site on AIM.com - http://www.aim.com/fun/ - it has links to some featured, possibly imaginary, AIM Blogs for people with free AIM Mail accounts.

Two of the blogs, http://www.HelloTokyo94.com & http://www.DayDreamer933.com both have their own separate websites, too. lol, both sites are totally worth a look :)
