Aparently this has been known about since November 1, 2004 but I only recently heard about it. It seems the memory modules on several Toshiba laptops may be faulty depending on which vendor supplied the module. Toshiba has a program in place to allow you to test for a bad module in your laptop. Toshiba offers to send replacement modules to the customer for self-install or the customer can send their laptop in to have Toshiba do it.
This notice affects the Portege M200/M205 line of TabletPC’s, meaning I’ll have to test my own machine for the problem.
Yay! I ran the test and I don’t have to send in my memory. Unfortunately, Toshiba was stupid and made the utility with an installer. So you have to install the utility, run the utility and then uninstall the utility. What a pain. Why didn’t they just distribute the executable?
