Abs Diet Challenge - Week 1 Complete

This morning marks the end of week 1 on the Abs Diet. I started the week at 231.0 pounds and finished at 227.4, a 3.6 pound drop. My body fat percentage went up slightly from 28.4% to 28.6%, though total body fat dropped by 0.57 pounds. I’m not certain that my scale measures body fat terribly accurately, though, so I’m not putting a lot of stake in the body fat numbers it gives me (it fluctuates wildly depending on time of day, mainly because it’s highly dependent on how hydrated you are). Anyway, I’m happy to see the scale moving in the right direction for once.

    Interesting side note. I went back to my spreadsheet (I’ve been charting my weight and body fat weekly since August, 2003) and noticed that when I went on the South Beach Diet I saw a similar phenomenon. I dropped 8.2 pounds of body weight but my body fat percentage went up by 0.2%. So maybe this is just some idiosyncrasy of my body.
